Okay, many of you are
wondering what this is, many already know. Essentially this is a
pot building strategy designed to allow your opponents to bet into
you so that you can raise their bet. This tactic is often employed
when you play a premium starting hand and are almost certain you
have the best hand after the flop and turn.
So why check raise? Again, you will
have the best hand either after the flop or turn. Depending on the
community cards showing your opponents maybe on a strong draw and
you want to make them pay for that. Also, the check raise is most
often employed when you are in early position with a very strong
top pair high kicker hand, two pair or a set. This will allow someone
in late position to bet and thus when you raise that bet others
will make the mistake and call the double bet or fold.
